“I’m Roy Mouland.”
Finding your own path
Everyone manages their own struggles in life and finds their own path to handle them. For some, this means leaving school to pursue other opportunities. Growing up in Bonavista, Roy understands the reasons why someone might not finish high school.
“Students may not finish high school the first time around due to the fact they don’t have a very supportive home life,” shares Roy. “Or maybe they’re struggling in school, or they’re having difficulty learning the concepts.”
A part of something bigger
It is important to understand that you are a part of something bigger at the Discovery Centre. You will feel motivated to achieve your high school education because you are surrounded by other adults who share the same goal.
“We are all adults here, we all work towards a common goal,” smiles Roy. “You’re not just part of a school, you’re part of a community.”
An experience for life
Attending the Discovery Centre is an experience that provides you with more than just your education. The lessons learned help you to become a stronger person with an attitude that allows you to take on the world.
“Students leave the school confident, strong, more able to take on things in the world,” recalls Roy. “Just better trained to tackle the things that life may bring them.”
Student or Instructor?
Roy is an instructor at the Discovery Centre and has dedicated years to helping students gain confidence and achieve their high school education.
“Here at the Discovery Centre, we’re not just instructors,” says Roy. “I’m a confidant; a sounding board. I’m also a mentor.”
